Data & corrections policy
Sources & licensing
All recall data is U.S. Government public-domain data (17 U.S.C. §105), retrieved from connected public agency APIs. We attribute each record to its source and link the official notice, which is always the authoritative version.
Refresh cadence & live status
Our pipeline refreshes every six hours. Current per-source status:
| Source | Last successful refresh | Records | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission | September 7, 2026 at 6:00 AM UTC | 156 | OK |
| U.S. Food & Drug Administration | September 7, 2026 at 6:00 AM UTC | 1266 | OK |
| National Highway Traffic Safety Administration | September 7, 2026 at 6:00 AM UTC | 0 | OK |
If a source has not refreshed in over 48 hours, a banner appears on every page until it clears. A refresh that completed but lost too many requests to the source is recorded as "attention needed" and does not count as a successful refresh, so the "last successful refresh" column above never overstates how current our copy is.
Email addresses
The signup box stores the address, requested topic, signup page, confirmation state, and operational send history. We first send one confirmation email; matching recall alerts begin only after its link is clicked. Every alert has one-click unsubscribe. We do not send newsletters or unrelated marketing, and we do not sell or rent addresses. Cloudflare processes the stored request and Amazon Web Services processes the email solely to operate this service.
Alerts supplement rather than replace a current safety check. For anything time-critical, check this site or the official sources directly. Questions or deletion requests can be sent to info@freshrecalls.com.
Aggregate usage counts
We count result selections, official-source visits, VIN lookup handoffs, scoped alert requests and successful confirmations by day. These counters contain no email, VIN, search text, IP address or visitor identifier. Known internal tests and diagnostic searches are excluded where identifiable. Link counting depends on browser support and can undercount; repeated actions are not unique visitors.
Our existing Cloudflare Web Analytics also reports page usage. A confirmation-page visit alone is not a confirmed subscription.
Accuracy & what we preserve
We preserve official recall identifiers, dates, and affected model / lot / serial ranges verbatim from the source. We reorganize and summarize for readability but do not alter the substance of a notice. Where our matching is uncertain, we label results as "possible matches" rather than exact.
Corrections
Found an error, a mismatch, or a missing recall? Email info@freshrecalls.com with the recall ID and page URL. We check corrections against the official source and fix or remove as warranted.
What this site is not
Fresh Recalls is an independent aggregator, not a government service or a safety authority. Absence of a recall here is not a safety guarantee. Always verify with the official sources.
