Agency product description and boundaries

Jerr-Dan Corporation (Jerr-Dan) is recalling certain XLP Carrier kits. The reverse and brake light assemblies may have been installed in the wrong location with the incorrect color or number of lights. As such, the carriers fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices and Associated Equipment."

Still to verify: match the label on your item with the full official notice, including any exclusions, tables and photos. Some identifiers appear only on the agency website and are absent from this data feed. A missing field does not mean all versions are affected.

If your lot or date falls outside a stated range, this notice has not established that your item is affected. This is not a finding about other recalls or product safety.

2. Agency hazard and consumer action

NHTSA reports: Inadequate rear lighting can reduce vehicle visibility or fail to alert other drivers when the vehicle is braking, turning, or reversing, increasing the risk of a crash.

NHTSA consumer action: Dealers will inspect and repair the carrier, free of charge. Owners may contact Jerr-Dan customer service at 1-800-926-9666.
