Agency product description and boundaries

Lode-King Industries, Ltd (Lode-King) is recalling certain 2019-2026 SDG53-3, SDF53-3, and SDF50-3 trailers. The rear impact guard may be missing welds, reducing the guard's structural strength. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 223, "Rear Impact Guards."

Still to verify: match the label on your item with the full official notice, including any exclusions, tables and photos. Some identifiers appear only on the agency website and are absent from this data feed. A missing field does not mean all versions are affected.

If your lot or date falls outside a stated range, this notice has not established that your item is affected. This is not a finding about other recalls or product safety.

Vehicle-specific check required: use NHTSA’s official VIN lookup. Fresh Recalls has not checked a VIN or repair status and does not ask you to submit a VIN.

2. Agency hazard and consumer action

NHTSA reports: A guard with inadequate strength may not sufficiently protect a following vehicle, increasing the risk of injury during a rear end crash.

NHTSA consumer action: Lode-King will inspect and add welds as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 14, 2026. Owners may contact Lode-King's customer service at 1-204-325-4345 or 1-866-797-0669. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning May 22, 2026.
